  • How do you form your Health Care opinions?

I have been very reserved about talking to others regarding the current health care debate. I do not have enough reliable information at hand, nor have I directly read any of the proposed legislation myself in order to be able to form an educated opinion--much less to discuss the topic with others. I personally do not know anyone who has read it. Yet, in spite of that lack of first-hand information, most folks still have strong opinions. I have also turned off "talk radio" and I don't watch TV news; I believe that all that second-hand information and opinions are what is causing the polarization in America. So who can we trust? Who has access to the actual legislation?  I have chosen to rely on our duly elected representatives. Don't you? So when I watch a video like this, I become very concerned that legislation this important is being rushed.  What do you think?

  • Clueless faculty

This drives me crazy!  A previous instructor forgot to turn off the data projector. This next guy comes in and teaches his whole class using the whiteboard--but it never occurs to him to turn off the projector!! The lamps cost $375. but he is clueless.  I can't count how many times we walk by empty classrooms and the projectors have been left on, filling the room with a bright blue glow.  Gah.

  • Simple bank error @ Heritage Oaks?

So, last month we wrote a $720. check to a contractor for the installation of a new sliding glass door. They deposited it into Heritage Oaks Bank, and Heritage Oaks ran the same check through twice, for a total hit of $1,440. to our checking account! We only found out when balancing our checkbook. Our own bank is taking care of it at our request, but shouldn't the contractor or Heritage Oaks Bank have caught the mistake?? Was it intentional on somebody's part?  I have to wonder if this happens more frequently, but with smaller amounts which go unnoticed.  Gah.  What do you think?
